A/C Clutch - Wire Extension Procedure

SUBJECT: HITACHI COMPRESSOR CLUTCH WIRE LENGTH

To prevent disconnection of the compressor clutch wire due to engine movement, the wire can be lengthened 2-1/4 inches using this procedure.

^ Disconnect the battery and disconnect and remove the alternator.

^ Unbolt the compressor from the bracket and angle the compressor so the side mounted wire restraint is exposed.

^ Using an impact screw driver, remove the Phillips type screw that secures the wire restraint.

^ Remove the restraint from the wire and reinstall the empty restraint and the screw making sure the clutch ground wire is properly resecured.

^ Re-install the compressor, alternator and related components and test drive to verify A/C operation.
