SUBJECT: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INTERMITTENT OPERATION
There is a possibility that the "check engine" light could flash during horn operation on some 88 Justy vehicles. This condition is caused by an electrical feedback from the horn coil assembly. To correct this condition, a diode harness has been added to the horn circuit in production as of 12/26/87. Starting VIN - 716371.
This diode harness is available through normal parts channels, under part number SOA635010S, Diode Harness, for complaints received on vehicles built prior to the production change.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the connector from the horn.
3. Connect the Diode harness between the horn and original harness.
4. Tape the Diode harness to the original harness, routing it between the grill and coolant reserve tank.
5. Reconnect the battery and close the hood.
6. Test the horn for proper operation.
This operation can be claimed under warranty for those vehicles within the warranty period.
