Body - Sunroof Squeaking Noises

2003~05MY FORESTER SUNROOF SQUEAKS





In case there is a squeak noise coming from the rear side (left or right) of the sunroof opening when driving and/or closing the sunroof please check the welded nut on the bracket attached to the sunroof panel. If there is a burr on the welded underside of the nut, the bracket is not fully secured to the sunroof You will need to remove the burr using the following procedure.

Procedure:

1) Disassemble the roof trim from the roof according to the service manual.





2) With one side bracket removed, remove the burr from the underside of the welded nut along the surface of bracket as shown. After removing the burr, reassemble the bracket.

3) Repeat the procedure on the other side bracket.

4) Reassemble the roof trim according to service manual.

5) Verify that the noise is gone





This procedure was done in production starting with the VIN shown.
