Instrument Panel Removal and Installation

WARNING: Refer to Air Bag Warning before starting service work.

Removal
1. Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
2. Disable air bag system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
3. Remove steering column hole cover.
4. Detach steering lower shaft.




5. Remove glove box (1) and hood latch release lever (2).
6. Remove console box.




7. Remove instrument panel center lower covers (1).




8. Remove front pillar trims (1), front pillar lower garnishes (2), front side sill scuffs (3) and dash side trims (4).
9. Disconnect instrument panel harness connectors and antenna cable which need to be disconnected for removal for instrument panel.
10. Remove instrument panel ground wire.
11. Remove instrument panel mounting bolts (1).




12. Remove instrument panel (2) with steering column, steering support member (3) and instrument panel harness.

Installation
Reverse removal procedure noting the following.
- When installing each part, be careful not to catch any cable or wiring harness.
- Tighten steering support member support bolts to specified torque.




Tightening torque
Steering support member support bolts a: 23 N.m (2.3 kg-m, 17.0 lb-ft)

- Install steering lower shaft.
- Enable air bag system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
