Precautions For Servicing 4WD Model
Precautions For Servicing 4wd ModelWARNING:
- Never perform service operations with the vehicle in [A], [B] or [C] below. If AWD mode is selected with the vehicle in any of these conditions, front wheels drive rear wheels drive rear wheels or front wheels, causing the vehicle to move, which may result in drivetrain damage and personal injury. Also, if service operation is performed with 2WD mode selected, the coupling may be damaged because of the difference in revolution speed between front wheels and rear wheels.
- When testing the vehicle using a 2-wheel chassis dynamometer or speedometer tester, be sure to place the 4WD system in the AWD mode and use a 2-wheel free roller. Alternatively, remove the propeller shaft to make only the front wheels work as drive wheels.
- When testing the vehicle with 2-wheel brake tester, be sure to observe the following instructions. Otherwise, drive train damage and personal injury may result.
- Shift transaxle to N (Neutral) position.
- Place 4WD system in 2WD mode.
- Run engine at specified idle speed. Drive wheels (tires) by brake tester at a vehicle speed below 5 km/h (3 mile/h).
- Do not drive wheels (tires) for more than one minute.
- When using an on-vehicle type wheel balancing equipment (1), observe the following precautions:
- Be sure to place the 4WD system in the AWD mode and raise and support the vehicle with safety stands (2) so that all four wheels are completely off the ground.
- Be careful not to be injured by the other wheels that rotate simultaneously with the wheel being balanced.
- Never select the 2WD mode, as this will damage the coupling in the drivetrain.
- This vehicle should be towed under one of the following conditions:
- With all wheels on a flatbed truck.
- With all wheels on the ground.
