DTC Detecting Condition and Trouble Area
NOTE:
When vehicle was operated in any of the following ways, one of these DTCs may be set although sensor is in good condition. If such possibility is suspected, clear DTC once DTC Clearance
and check whether any abnormality exists or not by performing driving test as described in Step 3 of ESP System Check ESP (R) System Check.
- Vehicle was driven with parking brake pulled.
- Wheel spin occurred while driving.
- Wheel(s) was turned while vehicle was jacked up.

DTC Troubleshooting
Preparation
- Confirm DTC C1057 is not detected.
- Perform the following procedure more than 8 times continuously.
1) Push engine switch to change ignition mode of keyless push start system to "ON".
2) Drive at a speed of over 20 km/h (12 mile/h) for more than 1 minute.
3) Confirm that ignition mode of keyless push start system is in "OFF".
1. Was "ESP (R) System Check" performed?
YES
Go to Step 2.
NO
Go to ESP System Check ESP (R) System Check.
2. Tire pressure check
Check that tire pressure is specified value.
Is it in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 3.
NO
Adjust tire pressure or replace tire and recheck DTC.
3. Wheel speed sensor circuit check
Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF".
Disconnect "E09" and applicable wheel speed sensor connectors.
Check for proper connections to "E09" and wheel speed sensor connectors.
If connections are OK, check the following points.
Resistance of both "E09" connector (1) terminals a pair of applicable sensor terminals no continuity. (circuit short check)
Resistance of applicable sensor terminal of "E09" connector and ground no continuity. (ground short check)
Resistance of applicable sensor terminal of "E09" connector and corresponding terminal of wheel speed sensor connector (2) in main harness (for front sensor) or floor harness (for rear sensor) continuity. (continuity check)
Voltage of applicable sensor terminal of "E09" connector and ground 0 V (with ignition mode of keyless push start system to "ON". (power short check))
Are they in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 4.
NO
Repair or replace defective wire harness.
4. Wheel speed sensor signal check
Check output voltage or waveform. Front and Rear Wheel Speed Sensor On-Vehicle Inspection
Is specified voltage and/or waveform obtained?
YES
Go to Step 6.
NO
Go to Step 5.
5. Wheel speed sensor check
Check applicable wheel speed sensor. Front and Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Inspection
Is it in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 6.
NO
Clean, repair or replace wheel speed sensor.
- Front wheel speed sensor: Front Wheel Speed Sensor Removal and Installation
- Rear wheel speed sensor: Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Removal and Installation
6. Wheel speed sensor encoder check
Check applicable wheel speed sensor encoder. Front and Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Encoder Inspection
Is it in good condition?
YES
Substitute a known-good ESP (R) control module and recheck DTC. ESP Hydraulic Unit / Control Module Assembly Removal and Installation
NO
Clean or replace front wheel speed sensor encoder and / or rear wheel speed sensor encoder.
- Front wheel speed sensor encoder: Front Wheel Speed Sensor Encoder Removal and Installation
- Rear wheel speed sensor encoder: Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Encoder Removal and Installation
