DTC Confirmation Procedure

Upon completion of initial check, turn steering wheel in both directions (fully when stopped and turning while driving).

Troubleshooting

1. Was "P/S System Check" performed?
YES
Go to Step 2.
NO
Go to P/S System Check P/S System Check.
2. Torque sensor circuit check
Confirm that the ignition mode of keyless push start system is in "OFF".
Disconnect P/S control module (rotation angle sensor/torque sensor) and torque sensor connectors.
Check for proper connection to P/S control module and torque sensor terminals.
Check "A1", "A2", "A3", "A4" and "A5" circuits between P/S control module and torque sensor for broken wire and short to ground.
Are they in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 2.
NO
Repair or replace defective wire harness and recheck DTC.
3. Torque sensor power supply circuit check
Connect P/S control module (rotation angle sensor/torque sensor) and torque sensor connectors.
Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "ON".
Check voltage between "1" terminal of P/S control module (rotation angle sensor/torque sensor) connector and ground.
Is voltage 8.6 - 10.2 V?
YES
Go to Step 3.
NO
Substitute a known-good P/S control module and recheck DTC. Service and Repair
4. Torque sensor ground circuit check
Check voltage between "1" and "8" terminals of P/S control module (rotation angle sensor/torque sensor) connector.
Is voltage 8.6 - 10.2 V?
YES
Go to Step 4.
NO
Substitute a known-good P/S control module and recheck DTC. Service and Repair
5. Torque sensor check
Check torque sensor. Torque Sensor Inspection
Is it in good condition?
YES
Substitute a known-good P/S control module. Service and Repair
NO
Replace torque sensor (steering gear case assembly). Removal and Installation
