DTC Detecting Condition and Trouble Area





WARNING:

If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.

- Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
- Perform the test extremely carefully.
- Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and an assistant.

NOTE:

Be sure to troubleshoot first unexpected DTCs previously detected in "DTC Confirmation Procedure".

DTC Confirmation Procedure

1) Clear DTC.
2) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "ON".
3) Drive vehicle at over 30 km/h (19 mile/h) for 5 to 10 minutes.

NOTE:
- Avoid mountainous areas that result in different speed between front and rear wheels.
- Avoid the type of driving in which rapid acceleration causes different speed between front and rear wheels.
- During the test drive, it does not matter if the vehicle is momentarily stopped at traffic signals.

4) Check DTC.

DTC Troubleshooting


1. Tire check
Check to see if front and rear tires are the same size and have the same air pressure.
Are they in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 2.
NO
Replace with standard tire or adjust air pressure.
2. DTC check
Clear DTC.
Perform DTC confirmation procedure, and check DTC.
Is DTC C1281 still detected?
YES
Substitute a known-good 4WD control module and recheck DTC.
NO
End.
