OBD System Description
The P/S control module has the an on-board self-diagnostic function which detects malfunctions in this system. When diagnosing troubles, be sure to have full understanding of "OBD System Description" and each item in Precautions for Diagnosing Trouble Precautions for Diagnosing Trouble
, and then execute diagnosis according to P/S System Check P/S System Check.
The P/S control module performs on-board diagnosis (self-diagnosis) on the system and operates the "P/S" warning light (1) as follows.
- The "P/S" warning light turns on when the engine switch is pressed to change the ignition mode to ON (but the engine stops) regardless of the condition of P/S control system. This is only to check if the "P/S" warning light operates properly.
- When the engine is started, the on-board self diagnosis is performed and the "P/S" warning light turns off if no trouble is found.
- When the P/S control module detects a trouble, the "P/S" warning light comes on to warn the driver of the trouble. At the same time, a DTC is stored in the module.
