Windows: Description and Operation
Power Window System Description
- Power window system consists of the keyless start control module, power window master switch, power window sub switches and the power window motors. The front power window motors and the power window master switch are equipped with the power window ECUs (controllers).
- Power window ECUs and the keyless start control module are connected by LIN communication.
- Front power windows are controlled by the power window ECUs built in the front power window motors.
- Rear power windows are controlled separately by each power window sub switch on each rear door.
Auto-Up and Auto-Down Function (Front Doors Only)
- When the power window switch is pulled up fully or pushed down fully, the window is raised or lowered automatically.
- The automatic operation is suspended if any of the following conditions is met.
- Approx. 10 seconds has passed from the start of the operation.
- Fully open or fully closed condition of the window glass is detected.
- The power window switch is operated in the reverse direction (pushed down when the window is rising or pulled up when it is lowering).
- Lock switch on the power window master switch panel is pressed.
Anti-Pinching Function (Front Doors Only)
For the anti-pinching function, refer to Description and Operation Anti-Pinching Function Description (Front Doors Only).
Slow-Start and Slow-Stop Function (Front Doors Only)
The speed of power window motor becomes slow when the window starts to move and when it is finishing its movement.
LIN Communication for Power Window (Front Doors Only)
- Power window ECUs in the front power window motors, the power window master switch and the keyless start control module are connected by LIN communication. For the general description of LIN communication system, refer to Communication System Description Communication System Description.
- Each front power windows can be operated by the power window switch on each door even if the LIN communication is in failure (including the case of submergence or other emergencies).
Power Window ECU (Built in Front Power Window Motor)
- The operations of power window ECUs are monitored by the keyless start control module, and the monitored information including the power window system DTCs can be checked by SUZUKI scan tool.
- Position and moving direction of the window glass are detected by the sensors built in the power window motor.
- The power window ECU maintains its control-related information in the EEPROM (electrically erasable programmable read only memory, which can keep its memory even if its power is off) built in it. If the built-in EEPROM is in failure, the power window ECU suspends part or all of the power window functions.
