Models Equipped With Manual Transaxle


1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly and engine compartment hood.
3. Cover driveshaft boots with shop towels to prevent damage as engine is removed.
4. Disconnect solenoid valve, water temperature switch and electric fan electrical connectors.
5. Remove stiffener plate bolt from differential, then disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
6. Remove radiator and windshield washer fluid tank.
7. Disconnect heater hose, fuel line, accelerator cable, choke cable and engine ground straps from engine.
8. Disconnect power brake vacuum booster hose from engine.
9. Disconnect high tension lead from ignition coil and alternator electrical connectors.
10. Disconnect clutch release cable from engine and starter motor electrical connectors from starter.
11. Remove bolts attaching engine mount and engine shock absorber to engine.
12. Remove engine to transaxle retaining bolts, then support transaxle with suitable jack.
13. Attach suitable hoist to engine, then position engine forward to clear transaxle input shaft and remove engine from vehicle.
14. Reverse procedure to install. Torque transaxle mounting bolts to 54 ft. lbs.
