JACK NUT COLLAPSING TOOL KIT:

CONDITION:

Unable to collapse the 5mm jack nut fastener when installing the Tercel roof rack.

CAUSE:

The lack of a collapsing tool in each of the roof rack hardware kits has prevented the proper installation of the jack nut fasteners.

CORRECTION:

Two collapsing tool kits will be sent to each Dealership Service Manager to assist in the installation of the jack nut for the roof rack. The following procedure describes the proper use of the collapsing tool kit.

Install the jack nuts into each of the drilled holes. Using an awl, pierce each jack nut and insert lock washer, nut and bolt as shown below:
Place a wrench on the 1/4 - 20 hex nut and tighten the bolt to collapse the jack nut.

Remove the jack nut collapsing tool kit by holding the 1/4 - 20 hex nut, rotating the bolt counter clockwise. Repeat this procedure at each jack nut location.
