Knock Sensor: Description and Operation
These sensors are mounted on the engine block and monitor ignition knock (Detonation). They send signals to the ECU which in turn, retards the ignition timing until detonation ceases. This control prevents internal damage to engine valves and pistons. Knock Sensor No. 1 inputs the ECU through terminal KNK1 and Knock Sensor No. 2 inputs the ECU through terminal KNK2.
