Suspension Control ( Automatic - Electronic ): Description and Operation

The Toyota Electronic Modulated Suspension (TEMS) system, Fig. 1, incorporates an electronically modulated suspension system which compensates for different driving conditions. Squatting on take-off or acceleration and roll when turning is reduced by the automatic damping effect of the front and rear shock absorbers, allowing a more comfortable and well balanced ride.
The system incorporates a check connector, steering sensor, TEMS computer, rear actuators, TEMS indicator, speed sensor, mode select switch, stop light switch and a throttle position sensor.
