MAINTENANCE FREE (MF) BATTERY HANDLING GUIDE
A maintenance free (non-maintenance) type battery has been introduced in order to improve the durability and reliability by reduction of electrolyte loss.
IDENTIFICATION:
MF batteries have sealing stickers on the electrolyte caps to prevent over-filling of battery acid by the customer.
REPLENISHING:
MF type batteries will have much less electrolyte loss as compared to the conventional battery.
However, if any electrolyte loss is found under severe operating conditions, it can be replenished on the following batteries.
1. REPLENISHABLE BATTERIES:
The above batteries are supplied on Japan (TMC) production vehicles only.
2. REPLENISHING PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the sealing sticker.
2. Open the electrolyte caps and fill to the upper level.
3. Tighten the electrolyte caps securely and clean the top of the battery.
4. Re-apply the new sealing sticker.
Note:
Do not put the sealing sticker over the ventilation holes.
