Seats - Headrests Emit a Rattle Noise

RATTLE FROM FRONT HEADRESTS


STANDARD SEAT

CONDITION: The headrests emit a rattle noise over bumps.





CAUSE: Rattle noise is caused by clearance between the headrest stay and the headrest support, or between the headrest support and the support bracket. See illustration.





PRODUCTION CHANGES:
To reduct operating clearance between affected components, the following production changes have been made:
1) The curvature of the headrest stays have been increased starting with April, '90 production.
2) Ribs have been added to the headrest support from October, '90 production.
3) The diameter of the headrest support bracket have been reduced starting with November, '90 production.





REPAIR INFORMATION:

Attach adhesive backed felt strips * (0.5 mm) to the headrest suport bracket as shown.





SPORT SEAT

CONDITION: The headrests emit a rattle noise over bumps.

CAUSE: Rattle noise caused by clearance between headrest support and headrest support bracket. See illustration.





PRODUCTION CHANGES:

1) The groove of the headrest support bracket has been reduced starting with June, '90 production (see illustration).





REPAIR INFORMATION:
Attach adhesive backed felt strips (0.5 mm) to the projection of the headrest support as shown.
