Date: 09/07/90 No: 90-47
SUBJECT: PRE-DELIVERY SERVICE (PDS) CLAIM RETURNS

In response to questions from dealers regarding the return of Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) claims, Toyota would like to remind dealers of the following:

^ If a claims was denied with the return reason 02 (PDS paid to port), the reimbursement for the vehicle's predelivery service was paid to the port facility. Any discrepancy regarding entitlement must be directed to the port.

^ If a claim was denied with the return reason 23 (claim duplicated), the reimbursement for the vehicle's predelivery service was previously paid on another claim. To obtain further information, the dealer should:

Perform the vehicle warranty history inquiry to identify the previous PDS claim entered on the system.

For vehicles sold prior to February 5, 1990, PDS credits were generated by the submission of the Retail Delivery Record, therefore you must check previous PDS invoices for payment under this system. Do not submit a PDS claim for vehicles sold prior to February 5, 1990.

If the above procedures do not provide the necessary information, submit the PDS Disposition Request Form found on page 2-5 of the 1990 Policy and Procedures Manual. PDS disposition verification will be returned to you.

^ If a claim was denied with the denial reason 11 (beyond 30 day submission), the claim was received by TMS more than thirty days after the PDS performance date. Contact your District Service Manager for assistance.
