Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

1. Obtain audio anti-theft code, if equipped, as outlined under Technician Safety Information, then discharge and recover A/C refrigerant.
2. Drain engine coolant from radiator.
3. Remove engine wire harness bracket mounting bolt.
4. Remove brake tube bracket mounting bolts from dash panel.
5. Disconnect water hose from heater core.
6. Remove insulator retainer.
7. Remove ABS actuator, if equipped.
8. Disconnect liquid and suction tubes from A/C unit.
9. Remove plate cover.
10. Remove instrument panel as outlined under "Dash Panel Service.
11. Remove heater to register No. 3 duct.
12. Disconnect A/C unit connectors and remove A/C unit.
13. Disconnect air inlet servomotor control link and remove air inlet servo motor, Fig. 8

14. Remove blower motor.
15. Remove foot air duct and A/C unit block joint.
16. Remove A/C unit lower case cover and evaporator cover.
17. Pull evaporator out of A/C unit case.
18. Reverse procedure to install. If evaporator was replaced, add 1.4 oz. compressor oil to compressor.
