FIELD FIX METHOD:
Removing the following interior components will provide easier cable access. (Refer to the Body section of the repair manual for proper removal procedures if needed).
^ REAR SEAT CUSHION AND SEAT BACK
^ REAR DECK TRIM COVER
^ LH DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL
^ LH QUARTER TRIM PANEL
(a) Disconnect the fuel lid lock control cable from the fuel lid lock.
(b) Carefully pull the cable through the wheelwell. This will provide easier access when installing urethane foam (e.g. 3M Scotchfoam or equivalent) onto the cable.
(c) Install 3M Scotchfoam - Single Coated Vinyl Foam 1/4" Black (3M P/N 02120007262) or equivalent around the circumference of the fuel lock cable. (See Fig. 2 for exact dimension and location/position of Scotchfoam).
(d) Affix the cable to the wheelwell using vinyl tape. (See Fig. 2 for exact placement of tape).
(e) Reroute and reattach the cable to the fuel lid lock assembly and reinstall the seat and interior trim panels.
NOTE:
If vehicle is equipped with a moonroof, fasten the moon roof drain hose and fuel lid lock control cable together with vinyl tape. This will limit drain hose and cable movement that may cause additional rattle noise.
