SLIDING ROOF COMPONENTS
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION INSPECT SLIDING ROOF GLASS ALIGNMENT
(a) Start the engine and check the operation time of the sliding roof.
Operation time: Approx. 6 Secs.
(b) Check for abnormal noise or binding during operation.
(c) With the sliding roof fully closed, check for water leakage.
(d) Check for a difference in level between the sliding roof weatherstrip and roof panel.
Front end: O ± 1.5 mm (O ± O.O59 in.)
Rear end: O ± 1.5 mm (O ± O.O59 in.)
If the sliding roof does not operate:
(e) Remove the control switch cover.
(f) Remove the large screw inside.
(g) Manually operate the sliding roof by inserting a screwdriver into the hole and turning the drive shaft.
SLIDING ROOF ADJUSTMENT
1. REMOVE SLIDING ROOF GARNISHES
Before making adjustments, remove the left and right sliding roof garnishes.
HINT: After adjustment, reinstall the sliding roof garnishes.
2. TO ADJUST LEVEL DIFFERENCE
Adjust by increasing or decreasing the number of shims between the bracket and sliding roof.
3. TO ADJUST FORWARD OR REARWARD
(a) Adjust by loosening the sliding roof installation nuts, and move the sliding roof bracket forwards and backwards.
(b) When the front or rear alignment is not correct, remove the glass and adjust the drive rail.
(c) Using a screwdriver, slide the link forwards or backwards to align the marks as shown.
4. TO ADJUST RIGHT OR LEFT
Adjust by loosening the sliding roof glass installation nuts. and move the sliding roof to the right and left.
5. TO ADJUST CLEARANCE
(Difference in left and right clearance)
Adjust by loosening the sliding roof installation nuts and readjust the sliding roof to the proper position.
SLIDING ROOF REMOVAL (REMOVE THESE PARTS)
1. ROOF HEADLINING REMOVAL
(a) Package tray trim panel (Liftback only)
(b) Luggage compartment mat (Liftback only)
(c) Rear seatback
(d) Rear seat cushion
(e) Deck trim rear cover (Liftback only)
2. REMOVE SIDE GARNISH
3. REMOVE FRONT AND REAR GARNISH
Using a screwdriver. remove the garnishes.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
4. REMOVE SLIDING ROOF GLASS
(a) Remove the 4nuts and shims.
(b) Pull the glass upwards to remove it.
5. Liftback: REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL
6. Coupe: REMOVE HIGH MOUNTED STOP LIGHT AND COVER
7. REMOVE THESE PART:
(a) Package tray trim panel (Coupe only)
(b) Room partition board LH and RH (Coupe only)
(c) Front pillar lower garnish
(d) Front pillar garnish
(e) Front door scuff inside plate
(f) Speaker grille
(g) Rear seatback hinge
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
(h) Rear seatback lock striker
Torque: 19 N.m (195 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)
(i) Rear seat outer belt floor anchor
Torque: 43 N.m (440 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf)
(j) Quarter trim panel
(k) Front seat outer belt shoulder anchor
Torque: 43 N.m (440 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf)
(l) Roof side inner garnish
(m) Control switch and cover
(n) Inner rear view mirror
(o) Sun visor and holder
(p) Remove the 3 clips and 2 stoppers.
(q) Remove the roof headlining.
8. REMOVE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL RELAY
(a) Disconnect the connector.
(b) Remove the bolt, the connector and relay.
9. REMOVE DRIVE GEAR
(a) Disconnect the connector
(b) Remove the 3 bolts and drive gear.
Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)
INSTALLATION HINT: Apply adhesive to the 2 gear side bolts. Part No.08833-00070, THREE BOND 1324 or equivalent.
INSTALLATION HINT: Turn the drive shaft by screwdriver to align the housing and gear point mark as shown.
10. REMOVE ROOF DRIP CHANNEL
11. REMOVE WIND DEFLECTOR PANEL
12. ADJUST DRIVE RAIL
INSTALLATION HINT:
- Adjust the drive rail to a closed and tilted down position.
- Using a screwdriver, slide the link forward or rearward to align the 2 marks as shown.
13. REMOVE CABLE GUIDE CASING ASSEMBLY
(a) Slide the drive cable forwards.
(b) Remove the 12 screws.
(c) Apply adhesive tape to protect the body.
(d) Pull the cable guide casing assembly forward to remove.
SLIDING ROOF DISASSEMBLY
1. REMOVE THESE PARTS:
(a) Sliding roof panel stopper
(b) Sunshade trim
(c) Cable guide casing
INSTALLATION HINT: Use butyl tape to cover the cut position of the weatherstrip at the connection between the guide casing and the guide rail.
2. REMOVE SLIDING ROOF PANEL STOPPER
SLIDING ROOF DISASSEMBLY
Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.
SLIDING ROOF INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
