Throttle Body: Service and Repair

Components For Removal Of Throttle Body:

THROTTLE BODY REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY.

CAUTION: Work must not be started for at least 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.

2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT.
3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE AND CAP.
a. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor connector.



b. Loosen the air cleaner hose clamp bolt.
c. Disconnect the 4 air cleaner cap clips.
d. Disconnect the air cleaner hose from the throttle body, and remove the air cleaner cap together with the air cleaner hose.

4. DISCONNECT ACCELERATOR CABLE BRACKET FROM THROTTLE BODY.
a. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle linkage.
b. A/T: Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle linkage.



c. Remove the 2 bolts and cable bracket.

5. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY.



a. Disconnect the 2 exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) vacuum hoses.
b. Disconnect the evaporative emissions (EVAP) vacuum hose.
c. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.
d. Disconnect the idle air control valve (IAC) valve connector.



e. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, and disconnect the throttle body from the air intake chamber.
f. Remove the throttle body gasket.



g. Disconnect the 2 water bypass hoses and air hose, and remove the throttle body.



THROTTLE BODY INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY.



a. Connect the air hose and water bypass hoses to the throttle body.



b. Install a new gasket on the air intake chamber stay, facing the protrusion downward.



c. Install the throttle body with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts in the sequence shown.
Torque: 22 Nm (16 ft.lb)




d. Connect the idle air control valve (IAC) valve connector.
e. Connect the throttle position sensor connector.
f. Connect the evaporative emissions (EVAP) vacuum hose.
g. Connect the 2 exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) vacuum hoses.

2. CONNECT ACCELERATOR CABLE BRACKET TO THROTTLE BODY.



a. Install the cable bracket with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 11 Nm (8 ft lb)
b. A/T: Connect the throttle cable to the throttle linkage.
c. Connect the accelerator cable to the throttle linkage.

3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER HOSE AND CAP.



a. Connect the air cleaner hose to the throttle body.
b. Install the air cleaner cap together with the air cleaner hose.
c. Connect the IAT sensor connector.

4. FILL ENGINE WITH COOLANT.
5. CONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY.
