REMANUFACTURED POWER 9ACK AND PINION STEERING ASSEMBLIES
This bulletin will serve to establish Toyota's policy regarding warranty repairs involving remanufactured power rack and pinion steering assemblies.
Effective February 13, 1995, remanufactured power rack and pinion steering assemblies must not be installed under the New Vehicle Warranty. These remanufactured power rack and pinion steering assemblies are available for customer pay repairs only. Remanufactured power rack and pinion steering assemblies may be used for replacement during the service parts warranty period (12 months/unlimited miles) when replacing only a failed remanufactured power rack and pinion steering assembly or under the terms of the Extra Care extended warranty or other VSAs.
Affected part numbers and their respective applications
When installing a new power rack and pinion steering assembly or a remanufactured assembly for the application noted above, dealers must be sure to check the power steering pump oil pressure and flush the system prior to installation, as specified in the attached instructions. Failure to do so will void the applicable warranty. Labor time for this procedure is included in the operation code listed in the flat rate manual. No additional labor time will be accepted.
