Introduction

Heated rear window terminals are now available individually for 1995 and newer Celica Convertibles. Previously, the repair for a broken terminal on the rear window required replacement of the entire rear window assembly. Terminals can now be replaced without the removal of the rear window assembly. The following procedure details the replacement of the Heated Rear Window terminal.

^ 1995 Model Year and newer Celica Convertible.

10 mm Wrench 1
200 watt Soldering Iron 1
Pliers (needle-nose type) 1
Steel Wool (3/0 to 4/0 grade) As Required
Screwdriver (minus type) 1

Repair Procedure

CAUTION:
When removing the broken terminal and/or installing a new terminal, do not overheat the rear window. Overheating the rear window may cause the bus bar area to discolor or melt. and/or cause the rear window to break. Damage and/or personal injury may occur.

CAUTION:
Be careful while working with a hot soldering iron. Vehicle damage and/or personal injury may occur.

CAUTION:
Make sure the ignition and the rear window defogger switches are in the OFF position and disconnect the negative terminal on the battery.
