INSTRUMENT PANEL
Instrument Panel Components:
REMOVAL
1. REMOVE THESE PARTS:
A. Front pillar garnish.
B. Front door inside scuff plate.
C. Hood lock release lever.
D. Cowl side trim.
2. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL. Steering and Suspension Steering wheel, service and repair
3. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER.
4. REMOVE COMBINATION SWITCH.
5. REMOVE THESE PARTS:
A. Lower finish panel assembly.
B. Instrument panel finish lower LH panel.
C. Fuse box bolt.
D. No.2 duct heater to register.
E. Parking brake release lever.
F. No.2 under cover.
G. Lower No.2 finish panel.
6. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT.
A. Using a screwdriver, pry out the glove compartment door finish plate inside the glove compartment box.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
B. Remove the connector from the glove compartment door finish plate.
C. Disconnect the airbag connector.
NOTICE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness. Pull up and disconnect the airbag connector.
D. Remove the 3 nuts and glove compartment door.
E. Remove the 4 screws and glove compartment, then disconnect the glove box lamp connector. Remove the compartment by pulling.
7. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
A. Remove the 2 bolts and 4 nuts.
TORQUE:
- Bolt: 20 Nm (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf).
B. Remove the front passenger airbag assembly from the instrument panel.
CAUTION:
- Do not store the front passenger airbag assembly with the airbag deployment side facing down.
- Never disassemble the front passenger airbag assembly.
NOTICE:
- At the time of assembly, please refer to the following items.
- Make sure that the front passenger airbag assembly is installed with the specified torque.
- If the front passenger airbag assembly has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the front passenger airbag assembly with a new one.
- When installing the front passenger airbag assembly, take care that the wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.
8. REMOVE THESE PARTS:
A. Center cluster finish panel.
B. Radio.
C. Heater control assembly. Service and Repair
9. FLOORSHIFT:
REMOVE THESE PARTS:
A. Upper console panel.
B. Rear console box.
C. Front console box.
10. COLUMN SHIFT:
REMOVE FINISH PANEL
11. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN
12. REMOVE THESE PARTS:
A. Cluster finish panel.
B. Cluster finish panel assembly.
C. Combination meter.
13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL
A. Disconnect the connectors.
B. Remove the bolts and ground terminals.
C. Remove the 2 nuts and 9 bolts.
D. Remove the instrument panel.
14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT
- Remove the parts as shown in the illustration.
DISASSEMBLY
REMOVE THESE PARTS FROM INSTRUMENT PANEL:
A. No.1 duct side defroster nozzle.
B. Defroster Nozzle assembly.
C. No.4 duct heater to register.
D. Instrument panel wire harness.
E. No.1 duct heater to register.
F. No.3 duct heater to register.
G. Lower finish panel subassembly.
H. No.1 side defroster nozzle.
I. No.1 defroster nozzle garnish.
J. No.2 defroster nozzle garnish.
Restraints and Safety Systems
REASSEMBLY
- Reassemble in reverse order.
