Introduction
To improve the appearance and durability of the black paint used on U.S. built 1998 Camrys and Avalons, TMMK has adopted the use of a base/clear coat paint system.
Affected Vehicles
^ 1998 TMMK Camrys and Avalons.
OEM Paint Structure
The painting procedure has been changed from a single stage non-metallic black to a dual stage base (black)/clear coat system.
Refinish Repair Procedures
Always follow the repair method recommended by the individual refinish paint manufacturer. Apply the base (black) coat first and then apply the
clear coat.
