A/C AIR FILTER MAINTENANCE

Introduction
A new high efficiency Air Conditioning particle filter has been provided on 2000 model year Avalon vehicles to help remove dust pollen and other air impurities.

Applicable Vehicles
2000 Model Year Avalon XLS.
2000 Model Year Avalon XL with Dealer Installed Option (DIO) A/C filter.

Maintenance Schedule

NOTE: The A/C air filter may clog after long use. As a result, if maintenance is not performed as outlined below, the Air Conditioning, Heating and Defogging performance may be reduced.






NOTE: The above maintenance schedule is based on projected filter life expectancy. Actual filter life may vary depending on driving conditions.

Replacement Procedure

1. Remove Glove Compartment






a. Remove the under cover.






b. Remove the airbag harness cover (Do not disconnect airbag harness).






c. Route the airbag harness cover through the vehicle hole.





d. Remove the 4 screws and 1 bolt.






e. Remove the glove compartment and disconnect the trunk opener switch.






2. Remove The Filter Assembly.
a. Locate the tilter assembly which is above the blower unit.
b. Remove the filter assembly by sliding it out.






3. Replace Filter.
a. Discard the original filter.

b. Install a new filter into the reusable~ filter case.

NOTE: Proper filter Installation shown on illustration.






4. Reinstall Filter Assembly.
Make sure that the filter assembly is properly secured.

NOTE: Filter "UP" position.

5. Reinstall glove compartment and all related components.

NOTE: Care must be taken when reinstalling the airbag harness cover. Do not pinch the airbag harness.
