Introduction
Some customers may notice a noise from the front wheel area, especially while turning or driving over bumps. In some cases, a bent speed sensor wire harness mounting bracket contacting the front fender liner may be causing the noise.
Applicable Vehicles
^ 2000 - 2001 model year Avalon vehicles produced before the VIN shown below.

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure
1. Raise the front of the vehicle. Inspect the plastic fender liner.
2. Remove the fender liner.
3. The speed sensor wire harness mounting bracket may have become bent (see diagrams). Inspect the routing of the wire harness and location of the connector. The connector should be "in-line" with the fender well hole.
4. If the speed sensor wire harness mounting bracket appears bent, replace it with a new service part:
^ Sensor, Speed, Front:

RH - 89542-07010
5. Assure the other harness mounting clips are fully secured to the vehicle.
6. Reinstall the fender liner. If the fender liner was deformed, replace it with a new service part:
