PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION:
PART NUMBER INFORMATION:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. With the boot at or above room temperature, separate the plastic rivets with a trim remover, or like tool, and discard the rivets. The exposed hole will be used for the new fastener.
2. Starting from the center hole and working outwards, replace the plastic rivets with aluminum rivets from the boot repair kit in all except the two outboard holes.
3. Add a washer to the backside of the reinforcement over the rivet end, as shown.
4. For the two outboard holes, first add the reinforcement plate, nibs down, by placing it over the rivet end and pushing it against the reinforcement edge.
Important:
The 90 flange must face down.
5. Add a washer to the backside of the reinforcement over the rivet end. Hold the components together securely during assembly.
6. Be sure the rivet tool is perpendicular to the rivet and that the rivet is fully seated against the mating surface before activating the rivet tool.
7. The finished assembly should be snug.
