Subject:
CONVERTIBLE TOP MISALIGNMENT

On some 2000 model year Solara Convertible vehicles, the convertible top may not line up with the header when closing. This may cause wind noise and/or water leakage. Adjustments can be made to the convertible top Up Stop adjusters to correct these conditions.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
2000 model year Solara Convertible.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Check the alignment of the locator pin to the receiver.
A. Apply Scotch tape (or equivalent) to the header, covering the receiver.
B. Apply a small dab of WhiteOut or other marking substance to the tip of the locating pin.
C. Pull the top closed, but do not latch.
D. Inspect the mark left by the pin to determine the adjustment that needs to be made.

2. The Up Stop adjusters are located under the right hand and left hand rear quarter trim.
A. To gain access to the adjusters, remove the rear seat back and bottom, then remove the rear quarter trim.
B. Make adjustments as needed, then test the operation of the roof assembly.

NOTE:
Make adjustments to the Up Stops in very small increments. For example, turn the adjuster 1/8 of a turn, then check the operation.
