Introduction
The No.1 bow pull-down handle on the 2000 model year Solara Convertible may, in some instances, become uncomfortably warm if left in direct sun for extended periods. To help insulate the handle, a felt pad can be added as explained in the following procedure.

This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Application Procedure
Apply felt pad material to the center pull-down handle of the No. 1 bow.
1. Remove the 6 screws (shown in illustration) to gain access to the center pull-down handle.
2. Pull up the black plastic cover of the No. 1 bow to gain access to the underside of the center pull-down handle.
3. Apply the felt pad to the underside of the pull-down handle.
A. Fold felt pad along dotted line.
B. Apply to the handle as shown in illustration. Fold should line up with edge of pull-down handle.
4. Reinstall screws.
