Introduction
On some 2000 model year ECHO vehicles the healer air flow control rotary knob may be difficult to turn. The heater air flow control mechanism has been changed to improve the feel of the rotary knob movement.

This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

Parts Information
Replacement Procedure
1. Detach the damper control cable from Procedure Lever 1.
2. Remove Screws 1 and 2, Lever 1 and Lever 2.
3. Remove the damper plate.
4. Remove Lever 3. Use a flat tool placed under the Lever and apply pressure in the outward direction.
5. Replace Lever 3 with the new part.
CAUTION:
When installing the damper plate to the lever arms it is extremely important to have the lever arms in the correct position.
6. Position Lever 3 so it is in the fully clockwise position against the locating dowel. The 3 other levers should be positioned fully counter clockwise. Now carefully mount the Damper Plate to its pivot point. After installation of the plate, check the lever pins to ensure that they are in the correct lever pin locating hole of the damper plate.
7. Install Levers 1 and 2.
8. Install Screws 1 and 2.
9. Exchange damper control cable with the new part.
