Introduction
Under certain conditions, some 2001 model year Camry and Solara vehicles with the 1MZ-FE engine may exhibit a false M.I.L. "ON" with DTC P0446 (Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Malfunction). The Engine Control Module/ECM (SAE term: Powertrain Control Module/PCM) logic has been modified to correct this condition.

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Federal Emission Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 96 months or 80,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure
Should a M.I.L. "ON" condition with DTC P0446 be encountered, check the ECM (PCM) part number and perform diagnosis as shown.
