Wheel Speed Sensor - Replacement Changes

Introduction
To improve assembly productivity a clip has been added to the speed sensor wire harness. Due to the addition of this clip there has been a part number change, and the service procedure has been modified.

Applicable Vehicles
^ 2000 model year ECHO vehicles built before the VIN listed do not have the updated parts installed at the plant.

Installation Procedure





1. Disconnect the speed sensor connector.

2. Remove the front wheel.





3. Remove the speed sensor.

A. Vehicles before production change:
Remove the 2 clamp bolts and the clip holding the sensor harness to the body and shock absorber.

B. Vehicles after production change:
Remove the 2 clamp bolts and the 2 clips holding the sensor harness to the body, shock absorber and steering knuckle.

C. Remove the bolt and speed sensor from the steering knuckle.

4. Vehicles before production change: Install the speed sensor.

A. Install the speed sensor to the steering knuckle with the bolt.
Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf cm, 71 in lbf)

B. Remove the upper side nut and bolt fixed to the shock absorber and the steering knuckle.

C. Install the bracket in the kit of the supply parts to the bolt.





D. Insert the bolt from the back side of the vehicle to the hole of the shock absorber and steering knuckle, and then tighten the nut.
Torque: 132 Nm (1,350 kgf cm, 97 ft lbf)

E. Insert the clip of the speed sensor wire harness to the hole in the bracket.





F. Install the 2 clamps to the body and shock absorber with the 2 bolts.

Torque:
Wire harness clamp x Body:
8.0 Nm (82 kgf cm, 71 in lbf)
Wire harness clamp x Shock absorber:
29 Nm (300 kgf cm, 22 ft lbf)

G. Insert the clip to the body.





5. Vehicles after production change: Install the speed sensor.

A. Install the speed sensor to the steering knuckle with the bolt.

Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf cm, 71 in lbf)

B. Install the 2 clamps to the body and shock absorber with the 2 bolts.

Torque:
Wire harness clamp x Body:
8.0 Nm (82 kgf cm, 71 in lbf)
Wire harness clamp x Shock absorber:
29 Nm (300 kgf cm, 22 ft lbf)

C. Insert the 2 clips to the body and steering knuckle.

6. Install the front wheel.

Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf cm, 76 ft lbf)

7. Connect the speed sensor connector.
