REAR SEAT RELEASE KNOB IMPROVEMENT

A repair procedure is available for incidents of 2002 model year Japan Built Camry rear seat release knob sticking or binding. Repair by replacing the release knob grommet as indicated in this bulletin.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES: 2002 model year Camry vehicles produced before the VINs shown below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the rear seat back lock release button by unscrewing it from the release rod.
2. Remove the grommet by prying it loose with a blade tip screwdriver covered with tape. Be careful to not scratch or cut the seat fabric.
3. Install the new grommet by pushing it into the hole until it snaps into position.







4. Install the rear seat back lock release button. Fold down and fold up the rear seatback 5 - 10 times to confirm that the release button does not bind.
