Repair Procedure
1. Before removing the roof moldings, tape the area around each molding to protect the roof paint.
2. Using a plastic pry tool, narrow putty knife, or a screw driver with taped tip, slowly and carefully unclip the molding at the rear. Once it is unclipped, slowly peel up the molding and then carefully remove the molding from the front clip (Figure 1). Repeat this procedure on the other molding.
NOTE:
Work slowly and carefully so as to not damage the plastic front and rear clips.
If a clip is damaged, the clip must be replaced as follows:
A. Remove the damaged clip and all traces of adhesive from the body.
B. Clean the mounting area on the body with isopropyl alcohol.
C. Scuff the paint and clip mounting surfaces with a red Scotchbrite pad. The clip has a yellowish substance on the mounting surface - scuff the mounting surface (do NOT remove the yellowish substance).
D. Apply 3MDP-105 adhesive (Figure 2) (using the dispensing gun and mixing tip) to the clip, position the clip as shown in the illustrations (Figure 3) (front clip is 14 mm from the windshield molding; rear clip is 17 mm from the rear glass molding).
E. Allow the adhesive to fully cure for the recommended time:
^ 40 minutes at 68°F (20°C)
^ 80 minutes at 50°F (10°C)
^ 160 minutes at 32°F (0°C)
3. Install the service part molding by aligning it in the roof channel and press fitting into place. It will "click" into the clips.
