CREAK NOISE AT TOP OF GLASS
Some customers may experience a creak, snap, or rattle noise coming from the top of the windshield and/or back window glass. The source of the noise may be the two glass stoppers (locating pins), bonded to the top of the glass, which rub against the body. This bulletin provides the recommended repair procedure.
APPLICABLE VEHICLES: 2002 - 2003 model year Camry vehicles produced before the VINs shown below.
PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the roof headlining assembly to gain access to the Windshield Glass Stopper No. 2. Refer to the appropriate Repair Manual for proper procedure. The stoppers are located within the blackout area of the glass approximately 20-25cm inboard from the top corners of the glass.
2. Cut off the tip of the windshield glass stopper as shown in the illustration.
3. Open a gap between the windshield glass stopper No.2 and the roof panel using a flat blade screwdriver, in order to prevent interference. Avoid putting pressure on the glass.
4. Confirm the noise has been eliminated. Re-install the interior finishers.
