Wiper and Washer Systems: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. REMOVE WIPER ARMS
Remove the 2 nuts and wiper arms.
2. REMOVE COWL LOUVERS
a. Remove the hood to cowl top seal.
b. Remove the 2 clips and cowl louvers.
3. REMOVE WIPER LINK ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the 5 bolts and wiper link assembly.
4. REMOVE WIPER MOTOR
a. Remove the nut.
b. Place the matchmarks on the wiper link and motor.
c. Remove the 3 torx screws and motor from the wiper link.
5. REMOVE WASHER NOZZLE
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the washer nozzle from the hood.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
b. Disconnect the washer hose.
c. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL WASHER NOZZLE
a. Connect the washer hose.
b. Install the washer nozzle to the hood.
c. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
2. INSTALL WIPER MOTOR
a. Align the matchmarks on the wiper link and wiper motor, then install the nut.
b. Install the wiper motor with the 3 torx screw to the wiper link.
Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
3. INSTALL WIPER LINK ASSEMBLY
a. Install the wiper link assembly with the 5 bolts to the body panel.
Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
HINT: Torque the bolts in order shown in the illustration.
b. Connect the connector.
4. INSTALL COWL LOUVERS
a. Install the 2 clips and cowl louvers.
b. Install the hood to cowl top seal.
5. INSTALL WIPER ARMS
a. Install the wiper arms and tighten the nuts by hand. Operate the wipers once and turn the wiper switch OFF.
b. Adjust the installation positions of the wiper arms to the positions as shown in the illustration.
A: Approx. 36.7 mm (1.445 in.)
B: Approx. 28.5 mm (1.122 in.)
C: Approx. 29.7 mm (1.169 in.)
D: Approx. 20 mm (0.7 in.)
E: Approx. 28.5 mm (1.122 in.)
F: Approx. 81.6 mm (3.213 in.)
G: Approx. 38.2 mm (1.504 in.)
c. Install the wiper arms with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 24 N.m (245 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf)
