DRL RELAY CHECK AFTER LOW/DEAD BATTERY

If the battery in 2003 model year Corolla and Matrix vehicles is allowed to discharge to a point where the vehicle will no longer start, a check of headlight switch operation should be performed. In some cases, a depleted battery may result in damage to the DRL Relay. An updated Daytime Running Light Relay has been created to address this situation.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES: 2003 model year Corolla and Matrix vehicles produced before the VINs shown below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Identify the cause of the depleted battery condition, and if necessary, make related repairs.
2. Remove and replace the Daytime Running Light Relay.
3. Confirm proper headlight operation.
