Introduction

Some 2004 Camry vehicles may exhibit a M.I.L. "ON" condition with DTC P0010 (Camshaft Position "A" Actuator Circuit Bank 1) or DTC P0020 (Camshaft Position "A" Actuator Circuit Bank 2) stored as a result of Engine Control Module or ECM (SAE term: Powertrain Control Module/PCM) manufacturing issues. Replacement of the ECM (PCM) will correct this condition.

^ 2004 model year Camry vehicles equipped with 1MZ-FE or 3MZ-FE engines produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty:

This repair is covered under the Toyota Specified Major Emission Control Component Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 96 months or 80,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1. Follow repair manual diagnostics for applicable DTC (P0010 or P0020). Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) 2004 model year Camry Repair Manual: Diagnostics: SFI system: P0010 or P0020.

2. If circuit tests OK per repair manual - replace the ECM (PCM).

NOTE:
If the ECM (PCM) is replaced, refer to TSB No. SS003-02 "Diagnostic Tester Immobilizer Functions" for information about registering the ECM (PCM) Communication ID.
