Some 2004 model year ECHO vehicles may experience a condition where the blower motor become inoperative due to ice build--up in the blower motor housing. This TSB provides information for a field fix repair to improve this condition. Please follow the repair procedures described below.
APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2004 model year Echo vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
Inspect the blower motor and blower resister when the blower motor malfunctions.
a. If the blower motor and blower resistor have no problems, add only the air filter and attach the A/C Filter Information Label to the backside of the glove compartment door.
b. If the blower motor and blower resistor have problems, replace them, add the air filter and attach the A/C Filter Information Label to the backside of the glove compartment door.
To replace the blower motor and resistor, refer to the 2004 Echo Repair Manual on ETAS: Air Conditioning; Blower Motor; Inspection.
