INTRODUCTION:

The 2004 model year Solara Convertible Tonneau Cover will no longer be available as a service part. To accommodate the new style cover on a 2004 model year Solara Convertible, a 2005 model year cover must be used and the Rear Quarter Trim Panel Sub--assemblies will need to be replaced.

NOTE:
2005 model year Tonneau Cover is color matched with the Rear Quarter Trim Panel Sub-Assembly.

model year Solara vehicles.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

Replace Rear (RH & LH) Quarter Trim Upper Panel Sub-assembly.

Refer to ETAS, 2005 model year Solara Repair Manual: Exterior/Interior Trim; Roof Headlining Assembly (Convertible) Replacement; Steps 5--13.







1. Remove Rear Seat Cushion Assembly.
A. Pull up the 2 front portions of the seat cushion, and then remove it.

NOTE:
The cushion frame deforms easily. To avoid deforming the seat cushion, place your hands near the hook as shown in the illustration, and then pull up on the seat cushion. Do the same for the other hook.


2. Remove Lower Bolt of Front Seat Outer Belt LH.

NOTE:
- Removal of the seat belt pretensioner must be started at least 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF and the negative (--) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
- Carefully read the notices for the "pretensioner" in the SRS airbag system section and the front seat outer belt section (see ETAS, 2004 model year Solara Repair Manual: Supplemental Restraint System;Supplemental Restraint System;Precaution (Solara)).








3. Remove Cup Holder Cover.
4. Remove Cup Holder No. 2.








5. Remove Quarter Trim Panel Sub-assembly Upper LH.
A. Using a screwdriver, pry out the bezel.

NOTE:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.


B. Remove the screw.
C. Using the taped screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and 3 clips, and remove the panel upper.







6. Remove Quarter Trim Panel Sub--assembly Upper RH.
A. Remove seat bezel and screw.

NOTE:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.


7. Reassemble in Reverse Order.
A. Remove screw.
