Some customers may experience a rattle noise from the rear package tray area. The following procedure was developed to reduce noises in the rear package tray area.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2004 model year Solara vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:







Add felt pads to the five (5) retaining tabs on the rear package tray.

Felt Dimensions:
Length: 25 mm
Width: 20 mm
Width: 1.5 mm

Remove Rear Package tray from vehicle. Refer to steps 8 -- 16 of the ETAS 2004 model year Solara Repair Manual:
Section: Seat Belt;
Subsection: Rear Seat Belt (Coupe).

1. Remove Front Seat Belt Assembly, upper mounting bolt (LH).
2. Remove Front Seat Belt Assembly, upper mounting bolt (RH).







3. Remove Center Pillar Garnish (LH).
a. Using a taped screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and clips, and remove the pillar garnish.

4. Remove Center Pillar Garnish (RH).
a. Use the same procedure described for the LH side.







5. Remove Roof Side Garnish Assembly Inner (LH).
a. Using a taped screwdriver, disengage the clip labeled "A" and 3 clips labeled "B," and remove the side garnish.

6. Remove Roof Side Garnish Assembly Inner (RH).
a. Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

7. Fold down rear seats
8. Remove Quarter Trim Upper (LH).
a. Disengage upper clips from Quarter Trim Front.
b. Using a taped screwdriver, disengage the 2 clips, and remove the Quarter Trim Upper.

9. Remove Quarter Trim Upper (RH).
a. Use the same procedure described for the LH side.







10. Remove Package Trim Panel Assembly
a. Remove 5 clips on front of package tray.
b. Disengage the 2 clips, 5 claws and package tray trim, as shown in the illustration.

Reassembly:

Reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly.

Refer to steps 8 -- 16 of ETAS 2004 model year Solara Repair Manual:
Section: Seat Belt
Subsection: Rear Seat Belt (Coupe).

Torque specification for front seat belt upper mounting bolt: 43 N-m (430 kgf-cm, 31 ft-lbf)
