INTRODUCTION:
Some customers may indicate that there is a tick noise from the base of the "A" pillar near the corner of the windshield while driving. This TSB explains how to minimize this condition.
APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2004 model year Solara vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
Refer to ETAS: 2004 model year Solara Repair Manual: Audio & Visual System: Front No. 2 Speaker Assy: Replacement (Solara).
1. Remove instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly. Disengage 2 clips (claw type) and remove speaker grille.
2. Remove front speaker no. 2 assembly.
A. Remove speaker attaching bolts.
B. Disconnect wire connector.
3. Grasp U-shaped nut (closest to the "A" pillar) and carefully slide nut off instrument panel sub-assembly.
4. Remove backing and place half of felt piece on back side of U-shaped clip as shown in figure 2.
Felt Size:
Width: 15 mm
Length: 20 mm
Thickness: 1 mm
5. Slide U-shaped nut onto instrument panel sub-assembly.
6. Affix loose end of felt to back side of instrument panel as shown.
7. Reinstall wire connector, speaker, bolts, and speaker grille.
8. Test drive vehicle to confirm effectiveness of repair.
