Introduction
Some customers may indicate that the audio door is either difficult to open (sticks) or is difficult to close and latch properly. As a result, the audio door sub-assembly has been modified to improve its operating characteristics.
NOTE:
A new audio door installation procedure has been developed to assure the proper installation of the audio door into the instrument panel.

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
2. Remove the audio door sub-assembly.
A. Release the 8 claws and 5 attaching clips securing the audio door sub-assembly to the instrument panel (IP).
B. Disconnect the wire harness connector.
3. Remove the air conditioning control assembly and make available for reinstallation on the audio door sub-assembly.
4. Reinstall the air conditioning control assembly on the NEW audio door sub-assembly.
5. Reinstall the audio door sub-assembly into the instrument panel.
NOTE:
^ The audio door MUST be in the "open" position during reinstallation; otherwise, damage may occur to the door mechanism.
^ Both side A/C vents MUST be in the "closed" position; otherwise, damage may occur to the door mechanism.
6. Reconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
7. Re-initialize all systems. Refer to TSB No. PD008-05, "Power System Initialization During PDS."
8. Confirm proper operation of the audio door and A/C functions and that all systems are re-initialized in step 7.
