INTRODUCTION:
Some customers may indicate that the audio door is either difficult to open (sticks) or is difficult to close and latch properly. As a result, the audio door sub--assembly has been modified to improve its operating characteristics.

NOTE:
A new Audio Door installation procedure has been developed to assure the proper installation of the Audio Door into the Instrument Panel.


APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2005 model year Avalon vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Disconnect the negative (--) battery terminal.
2. Remove the audio door sub--assembly.





A. Release the 8 claws and 5 attaching clips securing the audio door sub assembly to the instrument panel (IP).
B. Disconnect the wire harness connector.





3. Remove the air conditioning control assembly and make available for reinstallation on the audio door sub--assembly.
4. Reinstall the air conditioning control assembly on the NEW audio door sub--assembly.
5. Reinstall the audio door sub--assembly into the instrument panel.





NOTE:
- The audio door must be in the open position during reinstallation; otherwise damage may occur to the door mechanism.
- Both side A/C vents must be in the "closed" position; otherwise, damage may occur to the door mechanism.


6. Reconnect the negative (--) battery terminal.
7. Re-initialize all systems.
8. Confirm proper operation of the audio door and A/C functions and that all systems are re-initialized in step 7.
