The previous TSB should be discarded.
INTRODUCTION:
Some 2005 - 2007 model year Avalon customers may complain of a wind whistle noise from the door handle area. Use the following repair procedure to improve this condition.
NOTE:
This TSB applies to vehicles which do NOT have the smart key option (black rubber button on the exterior handle).
APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2005 - 2007 model year Avalon vehicles (without smart key option).
- 2006 model year Avalon vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown below.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE:
Confirm that the wind noise is coming from the door handle by applying tape over the entire door handle area and test driving the vehicle. If the noise goes away, then proceed with the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
The instructions below are for the LH side. The repair procedure is the same for the RH side.
1. Remove the exterior door handle and the pad behind the door handle and lock cylinder.
A. Remove the hole plug.
B. Using a Torxr socket wrench (T30), loosen the Torxr screw and remove the front door outside handle cover LH with the door lock key cylinder installed.
C. Remove the handle by sliding and pulling it in the direction indicated by the arrow.
2. On vehicles produced before the VIN break, replace the pad with the new improved pad (69242-AC031)
3. Reinstall exterior door handle.
4. Test drive the vehicle to make sure that the noise is gone.
