INTRODUCTION:
Some Echo vehicle that have been operating in specific snowstorm conditions for a long period of time, may have snow enter into the engine room compartment and accumulate on the intake components.
Please follow the field fix procedures outlined below to address this condition.
APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2004 - 2005 model year Echo Hatchback vehicles.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Removal
A. Open the hood and remove the 3 hood lock set bolts.
B. Remove the center brace set bolt.
C. Disconnect the horn connector.
D. Remove the 2 clips and radiator support opening cover.
E. Remove the 7 bolts and upper radiator support.
2. Installation
A. Install the sponge seal radiator support under the radiator upper center support.
Before attaching sponge, remove the dust, moisture, and oil from the radiator upper center support.
a) Locate the datum hole on the radiator upper center support and position one end of the sponge seal 36mm left of the datum hole (see diagram).
b) Place the sponge seal 5.5mm behind the datum line
c) Once both positions are aligned, remove the adhesive backing tape from the sponge seal and attach the sponge seal onto the underside of the upper radiator support bracket.
B. Install the radiator upper support with the 7 bolts.
Torque: 5.5 N-m (56 kgf-cm, 48.7 in-lbf)
C. Install the radiator support opening cover with 2 clips.
D. Connect the horn connector wire.
E. Tighten the center brace set bolt.
F. Tighten the 3 hood lock set bolts.
Torque: 8.0 N-m (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf)
