Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators: Service and Repair
REPLACEMENT
HINT: Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT
HINT: Indicate the bolts, screws and nuts, which are necessary for installation and removal of the instrument panel, in the illustration and the text with alphabets.
2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
3. INSPECT CENTER FRONT WHEEL
4. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)
6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER
7. REMOVE HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips and 3 claws.
b. Disconnect connector, then remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly center.
10. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY W/BRACKET (W/O NAVIGATION SYSTEM)
11. REMOVE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY W/BRACKET (W/ NAVIGATION SYSTEM)
12. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (MANUAL TRANSAXLE)
a. Turn the shift lever sub-assembly counter clockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.
13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY CTR
a. Power point socket models only:
Disengage the 5 claws and remove the switch base.
b. Remove the control knob.
c. Remove the screw
d. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 2 clips and 7 claws, then pull out the instrument cluster finish panel assembly CTR.
e. Disconnect the connectors.
14. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY
15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX
a. Open the instrument panel box.
b. Pull the instrument panel box upward to remove it.
16. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER
a. M/T Transaxle:
Remove the 3 screws
b. A/T Transaxle:
Remove the 5 screws
c. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claws, then remove the instrument panel finish lower center.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
17. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE)
18. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (MANUAL TRANSAXLE)
19. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
a. Disengage the 9 claws, then remove the front door scuff plate LH.
20. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
21. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
a. Remove the cowl side trim clip.
b. Disengage the 2 claws, then remove the cowl side trim board LH.
22. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH
HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
23. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Open the glove compartment door.
b. Remove the screw
24. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
a. Deform the upper part of the glove compartment door assembly to release the stoppers.
b. Pull the glove compartment door assembly upward to remove it.
25. DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR
26. REMOVE METER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 5 claws and 3 clips, then remove the meter hood sub-assembly.
27. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the screw
b. Disengage the 2 claws as shown in the illustration.
c. Disconnect connector, then remove the combination meter assembly, as shown in the illustration.
28. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips and 2 claws.
b. Pull out the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
29. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH
a. Disengage the 3 clips and 2 claws, then remove the front pillar garnish LH.
30. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH
HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
31. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER
a. Remove the 3 screws
b. Disengage the 3 clips and 9 claws.
c. Pull the instrument panel sub-assembly upper rearward to remove it.
d. Disconnect the connectors.
32. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER
a. Disconnect the hood lock control cable and DLC3 connector.
b. Using a clip remover, remove the 4 clips.
c. Remove the 7 bolts or
d. Disengage the wire harness 4 clamps.
e. Remove the instrument panel sub-assembly lower.
33. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL CENTER NO.2
a. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 2 claws.
b. Pull out the instrument cluster finish panel center No.2.
34. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL CENTER NO.1
35. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX
36. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY CENTER
37. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER
a. Install the instrument panel sub-assembly upper, 3 screws
Torque: Bolt : 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
38. CENTER SPIRAL CABLE
39. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
40. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT
41. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
42. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
43. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
