Instrument Panel Safety Pad Sub-Assy
Instrument Panel/Meter - Part 3:
REPLACEMENT
HINT:
- Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT
HINT: The bolts, screws and nuts necessary for installation and removal of the instrument panel are illustrated and alphabetically coded.
2. REFER TO AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE PRECAUTIONS
3. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.2
5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.3
6. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)
8. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER LWR
9. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER
10. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY W/SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the connectors.
b. Remove the 3 screws and the turn signal switch assembly w/ spiral cable sub-assembly.
11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
13. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
14. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL LOWER
a. Disengage the 5 clips and remove the instrument cluster finish panel lower, then disconnect the connectors.
16. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE
17. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER
a. Disengage the 4 clips and remove the instrument panel finish panel lower.
18. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY NO.1
a. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the instrument panel register assembly No.1.
19. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 clips from the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
b. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
20. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 3 screws.
b. Pull out the combination meter assembly, then disconnect the connectors.
21. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL LH
a. Using a screwdriver, open the cover of the instrument panel finish lower panel LH.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use to avoid damage.
b. Remove the bolt
c. Disconnect the hood lock control cable assembly.
d. Disengage the 4 clips and remove the instrument panel finish lower panel LH.
e. Disconnect the connectors.
22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL INSERT SUB-ASSEMBLY LWR LH
a. Disconnect the DLC3 connector.
b. Remove the 5 bolts or and the instrument panel insert sub-assembly LWR LH.
23. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Turn the shift lever knob counterclockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.
24. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Using a moulding remover, disengage the claw and the 8 clips, and remove the console upper rear panel sub-assembly. HINT: Set the shift lever in the N position (A/T).
25. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY REAR W/CONSOLE DOOR
a. Remove the 2 bolts
b. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the console box sub-assembly rear w/console door.
c. Disconnect the connectors.
26. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER
a. Disengage the 4 clips and remove the console sub-assembly upper.
b. Disconnect the connectors.
27. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. As shown in the illustration, push on the upper side of the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly center from the back of the meter to make a clearance.
NOTE: Perform this procedure wearing protective gloves.
b. Pull the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly center towards you using your fingers to disengage each clip.
c. Disconnect the connector and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly center.
28. REMOVE CENTER CLUSTER INTEGRATION PANEL ASSEMBLY (W/O NAVIGATION SYSTEM)
29. REMOVE CENTER CLUSTER INTEGRATION PANEL ASSEMBLY (W/ NAVIGATION SYSTEM)
30. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1
a. Disengage the 3 claws, pull the instrument panel under cover sub-assembly No.1 in the direction indicated by the arrow, and remove it.
31. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL RH
a. Remove the bolt
b. Disengage the claw and remove the clip and the instrument panel finish lower panel RH.
32. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX FRONT
a. Remove the 3 screws
b. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the console box front.
33. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH
34. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH
35. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
36. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.2
37. REMOVE FRONT NO.2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY
38. REMOVE GLOVE BOX LAMP ASSEMBLY
39. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY NO.3
40. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD CAP
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the instrument panel safety pad cap.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use to avoid damage.
41. DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR
42. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY W/PASSENGER AIR BAG ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the bolts
b. Disconnect the connectors.
c. Pull the instrument panel safety pad towards you and check that none of the wire harnesses are stuck in the body.
43. REMOVE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR
44. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD CAP (MANUAL AIR CONDITIONING)
45. REMOVE COOLER (SOLAR SENSOR) THERMISTOR (AUTO AIR CONDITIONING)
46. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT NO.1
a. Remove the screw
47. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT NO.2
a. Remove the screw
48. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 5 screws
49. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.1
a. Remove the 3 screws
50. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE GARNISH NO.1
51. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE NO.1
52. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE NO.2
53. REMOVE INSTR PNL PASS L/DOOR AIR BAG ASSEMBLY
54. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
55. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY W/PASSENGER AIR BAG ASSEMBLY
a. Using a torque wrench, install the bolt
Torque:20 Nm (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
b. Install the instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly with the bolts
56. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
57. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
58. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
59. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
60. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
61. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
62. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
