INTRODUCTION:
To enhance serviceability on 2005 - 2010 model year Avalon vehicles, the floor carpet assembly (FR Floor Mat Assy) has been modified to include both carpet and hook tape for installation. Should replacement of the floor carpet assembly become necessary, follow the procedure in this bulletin to replace the floor carpet assembly.

REPAIR PROCEDURE: DISASSEMBLY







1. Turn the shift lever knob sub-assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.







2. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the position indicator housing assembly.







3. Remove the console box hole cover by disengaging the 4 claws (without seat heater).







4. Remove the seat heater switch (if equipped).
A. Disengage the 4 claws.
B. Disconnect the electrical connector.

5. Remove the console panel sub-assembly upper.







A. Disengage the 6 claws and remove the console upper box (if equipped).







B. Disengage the 10 clips.
C. Disconnect the connectors and remove the console upper panel sub-assembly.
D. Remove the tape player assembly (if equipped).

6. Remove the console box carpet.







7. Remove the console box assembly.
A. Disconnect each connector.
B. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 screws then the console box assembly.







8. Remove the console box front.
A. Remove the 2 nuts and screw.
B. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the console front box.

9. Remove the LH front seat.

10. Remove the RH front seat.

11. Remove the rear seat cushion assembly.
A. Pull up the 2 portions of the rear seat cushion assembly as shown in the illustration and remove it.
Dimension A: 100 mm (3.94 in.) or less

NOTICE:
In this case, hold the base of the clip up to prevent the cushion frame from being distorted.


B. Disconnect each wire of the reclining adjuster arm sub-assembly RH and remove the rear seat cushion assembly.

12. Remove the audio amplifier assembly (if equipped).
A. Disconnect all connectors.







B. Remove the bolt and audio amplifier as shown in Figure 10.







13. Disengage the 4 clips and 7 claws and remove the front door scuff plate LH.
14. Disengage the 4 clips and 7 claws and remove the front door scuff plate RH.







15. Remove the clip (A) and disengage the 2 clips (B) and remove the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH.
16. Remove the clip (A) and disengage the 2 clips (B) and remove the cowl side trim sub-assembly RH.







17. Disengage the 5 clips and 2 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate LH.
18. Disengage the 5 clips and 2 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate RH.
19. Remove the front door opening trim weatherstrip LH and RH.
20. Remove the rear door opening trim weatherstrip LH and RH.







21. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the LH lap belt outer anchor cover.
22. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the RH lap belt outer anchor cover.







23. Remove the bolt and separate the LH front seat outer belt assembly.
24. Remove the bolt and separate the RH front seat outer belt assembly.







25. Disengage the 2 clips and 2 claws and remove the center pillar lower garnish LH.
26. Disengage the 2 clips and 2 claws and remove the center pillar lower garnish RH.







27. Disengage the 4 clips and 2 claws and remove the rear seat side garnish LH.
28. Disengage the 4 clips and 2 claws and remove the rear seat side garnish RH.
29. Release the 4 wire harness retainers and remove the rear floor carpet assembly.
30. Remove the 3 floor carpet hooks, release the clamp, and remove the RH front carpet assembly.
31. Remove the 3 floor carpet hooks, release the clamp, release the hook and loop fastener and remove the LH front carpet assembly.







32. Remove the OLD hook tape from the LH side of the HVAC Unit Assembly.

NOTE:
- The OLD hook tape is Black in color.
- Make sure surface of HVAC is clean and free of any oils, debris, and residue.


REPAIR PROCEDURE: REASSEMBLY







1. Install the NEW hook tape on the HVAC Unit Assembly.

NOTE:
- Hook tape should be positioned with the top edge of tape aligned to the top edge of target window on HVAC.
- The NEW hook tape is White in color.
- Press entire surface of the hook tape firmly against HVAC surface.








2. Install the NEW LH front carpet assembly, by installing the 3 floor carpet hooks, setting the clamp, and attaching the hook and loop fastener.

NOTE:
- When properly installed, the hook and loop fastener should be aligned as shown in Figure 20.
- The NEW loop fastener attached to the NEW carpet assembly is Orange in color.


3. Remainder of reassembly is reverse of disassembly.
